SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at the Unite conference, Unity Technologies, the leading provider of the multi-platform game development platform for Web, PC, Mac, Wii and iPhone, announced the award winners of its third annual contest. This year, there were 129 submissions, twice the number of submissions last year, spanning four categories: Best Overall, Best iPhone Game, Best Visual Design and Best Technical Achievement; prizes totaled $9,500.

"We're continuing to see professional quality console content entries and entries that are a little more experimental, a little more arty," said Nicholas Francis, Chief Creative Officer at Unity Technologies. "It's nice, people are pushing the envelope a bit more, and for us that's an exciting part of making a tool; there is this box that we think people are going to play in, and people break out of that and make content that leverages Unity technologies in amazing ways."

Runner Up: Lego Star Wars: Quest for R2-D2, developed by Three Melons

Finalist: Paper Moon, developed by Infinite Ammo

Best iPhone Game:

Winner: Monospace, developed by Nonverbal (Daniel Lutz)

Runner Up: Samurai: Way of the Warrior, developed by Mad Finger Games

Finalist: Snake Galaxy, developed by DigDog

Finalist: Battle Bears, developed by SkyVu Pictures & Blackish

Finalist: Touch KO, developed by Adam and Matt Mechtley

Best Visual Design:

Winner: Doppelscope, developed by Tobias Baumann

Runner Up: Blush, developed by Flashbang Studios

Finalist: Choma, developed by Knife Media
